Employee of the Month – October 2017

04 Oct 2017

Unsolicited and glowing feedback is consistently received for John. He is a superb and valued colleague and a first class worker. An excellent janitor and is core to the operational success of St Ninian’s High School. He helps to keep the School clean, safe, warm and tidy. John is highly regarded by colleagues, school staff, school management and pupils and their respect for him is of the highest order and based on his humility, trust and integrity. They know John is always there to offer advice, support and encouragement and is a man of his word. His attendance, timekeeping and conduct are exemplary.

St Ninian’s has gained considerably from John’s work and presence. John demonstrates excellent commitment to his work at all times and has received considerable recognition from senior staff in discharging his responsibilities. He displays an impressive range of experience across an array of responsibilities – he can turn his hand to anything and offers excellent advice on all building and safety matters. He has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to work with and get the best from others through the excellent relationships he has formed with staff across the whole school. John is a doer and staff have an excellent regard for his work and the courtesy he demonstrates, especially when at times the expectations of senior staff and the Head Teacher can be quite demanding.

He is a very sensible and level-headed colleague and always acts with discretion and sound judgement. He is committed to, and supportive of St Ninian’s school’s ethos. There has never been a day when John has failed to offer outstanding support. Time is never an issue and John can be relied upon as the person to go to when tasks need to be delivered in a tight timescale.

Pupils regard John as a highly significant support and value his presence in their school life. Through partnership working with ERC colleagues his focus is always on the needs of the young people and ensuring their wellbeing through his work.

Head Teacher, John Docherty, sums John up perfectly by commenting:

“I regard John Buskie as the most talented and hardest working janitor I have worked with in 38 years of teaching. He is a very good man and we are very fortunate to have such a loyal colleague.”

John Buskie was presented his certificate and gift voucher by Head Teacher, John Docherty of St Ninian’s High School
